Poncho Sleeves? Is that a thing? Or is it an oxymoron? Or am I just being a moron? Hmm… Oh well… If it wasn’t a thing before, it is now.
This past fall as I was crocheting the Modern Granny Winter Poncho by Jeanne Steinhilber of the Crochet Crowd, I realized that it really needed to have sleeves. The temperatures were beginning to drop, but not enough for a winter coat. And while the cowl was keeping my neck toasty and warm, my arms were still chilled. Rather than continuing to add round after round until the poncho became an unwieldy blanket, sleeves became the best option.
I started a new venture this past fall. It’s something I never imagined myself doing. I’ve always been content to just grab yarn off the store shelves, not worrying about anything other than how soft it felt or what color it was. That all changed when I took a spinning class at a local yarn shop.
Congrats to me! Now I can sell my crafts! There will be lots of crocheted items such as scarves, shawls, blankets, and whatnot. And when I finally get a hold of liquid leading, I’ll be starting the Gallery Glass stuff too!
There is nothing more terrifying than an explosion that comes out of nowhere and maims or kills you. With the horrific tragedy of a natural gas pipeline explosion that happened in Pennsylvania recently I have come to the conclusion that there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to dig holes in the ground to add natural gas pipelines.
Tagging and sharing are great ways to reach out to your Facebook friends, but I feel that most people are not using these features correctly. There is a distinct difference between the two actions. For those sticklers like me who appreciate folks who follow the rules of proper internet etiquette, knowing how to properly use these features is essential.
A Personal Resume differs from a normal resume in that you showcase your interests and hobbies. These are the activities that you are passionate about and what brings you joy. It doesn’t matter if you get a bit high on the smell of a well-baked tray of cookies or that you feel satisfaction when a painting is complete. This is what defines you as a person, separate from the drudgery of those chores that lead to a paycheck.
Do you feel dissatisfied with yourself when you hand your prospective employer the same old resume, knowing you are so much more than what is printed in those bold, black letters on a drab, white sheet of paper?
It is Chaos out there and I’m not sure I like it. Life lately has felt like a never ending episode of Twilight Zone. You know the one. It’s where the man wakes up to find he has a wife he never knew existed as well as a life he doesn’t remember living. Between the 60 degree weather just yesterday, the record-breaking snowfall last month, and the current state of the world, it’s as though the world has fallen on its proverbial head and gotten a really bad concussion. Reasonable people are saying unreasonable things.
I’m waiting for the punchline and hoping it won’t be a literal punch to our collective face. Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same?
Recently, I lost one of my spoons. To anyone else it’s just a lost spoon. I was walking from the kitchen to the living room and it fell off the plate I was carrying. I heard it make a soft “thud” as it fell onto the carpet. Of course, I cursed as I continued to my computer desk. It’s hard to eat runny coleslaw with your fingers. At that particular moment I assumed that I could retrieve the errant spoon on my way back to the kitchen to get its replacement. No such luck…
Wandering through the non-existent snow on a two bunny pile of hay… It’s the time for my annual Non-Holidays Holiday. I do not like this time of the year. Not only is there less daylight, but the temperatures are normally dropping. The stores are crowded. People are more miserable than usual. The only good thing about this time of the years is the food, especially the cookies.
Car insurance in the state of New Jersey is high. There is no denying it. Saving money on your car insurance can be tough, but for some drivers researching companies and adjusting their policies can be well worth the effort.
I am not the type of person to just make random changes in my life. I can’t be bothered most of the time with researching prices to get the best deal. It takes too much time away from what I would rather be doing with my time. Being mostly unemployed at the moment, reducing costs has become a necessity.
