Noise pollution in one of my many pet peeves in general. As I have both noise sensitivity and tinnitus, I really hate loud noises. Though there are many sounds I cannot control, there are some that I can control. Damage to hearing that is caused by the proposed Chesterfield Compressor Station is something that we as a community can prevent to keep both our hearing and our sanity intact.
The Chesterfield Compressor Station goes hand-in-hand with the Southern Reliability Link so we must stand together to fight this as well. A compressor station is the facility that is needed to force the gas through the pipeline and it poses its own set of health and environmental concerns for the citizens of our area.
I have used Lion Brand Wool Ease yarn for several of my projects over the years, from an afghan that took over a decade to finally finish to what I imagine will be my heirloom blanket. However, it wasn’t until my latest project that I began to appreciate the yarn itself for its colors and its softness.
The Syrian Refugee Crisis is all over the news. How can you not be aware of what is going on in Syria, even if you don’t understand what the conflict is all about? I’m sure that you have heard of the attacks that happened in Paris, France last Friday. And no doubt you have drawn your own conclusions about who did it and what must be done to prevent it from happening again, possibly closer to home next time.
I love crocheting. I really do. There is a challenge in deciphering instructions that makes the cogs in my brain creak and turn. It’s calming once I’ve stopped raging at what feels like my own stupidity when I’ve frogged the first few rows for the fifteenth time and it starts looking more like the finished project. Then as the project grows before my eyes, I find myself being amazed at the creativity I possess, gaining confidence with myself as a human being.
Almost every Thursday I walk with a friend up and down a short stretch of the Union Transportation Trail, a beautiful trail that was once part of a railroad that ran between Pemberton and Hightstown. Besides good conversations, we enjoy the flora and fauna that surrounds us. There are several streams that flow under the bridges we cross. I often stop to take photos of the various plants we come across. It’s a small gem hidden away in a bustling state that people normally associate with city life. However, this is all being threatened by a proposed high-pressure gas line that will run close by if it is allowed to be constructed.
From time to time links to articles about creating a brand have appeared on my Facebook newsfeed. It has been stressed that this is an important part of defining what your business is. So I decided today was the day I would tackle creating my logo. I’ve had a general design in my mind for a bit but since I lack the artistic skills of my youth, I have been reluctant to actual draw my logo.
Since the yarn is so thick it didn’t take much time. But she did gobble up almost five skeins of yarn! And now that I have the pattern memorized, it was so easy! All I can do is gush about my new friend.
Have you ever tried to concentrate with two rambunctious bunnies causing trouble and making a racket? It’s not easy. One is bounding all over the living room like a drunken ping pong ball while the other is nibbling away at one of the plastic tunnels even though she knows she shouldn’t. If they weren’t so darn cute, it would be rabbit stew for dinner. (Just kidding!)
No, this isn’t probably isn’t going to be a post that is going to be SEO friendly. How can it be? I generally don’t have anything exciting to say. I’ll try. I’ll pretend so I can make myself feel better and not so alone over here in my little corner of the World Wide Web.
Not the whole cord, mind you, just half. I still need the other half to try to get my blog going. I called my cable company Tuesday evening and cancelled the TV portion of my services. How does it feel? Am I feeling the loneliness of not having “live” TV? Am I loosing my mind? What am I doing with myself now?
These questions and others will be answered after this short commercial break…
