Beginner Crochet Series – Quick Crochet Stitch Review

Single thru Treble stitches
Single thru Treble stitches

Today I want to do a quick crochet stitch review of the stitches you have learned so far.  Consider this a “cheat sheet” so feel free to bookmark this post.  Though I haven’t mentioned the treble crochet stitch yet, you should be able to figure it out until I do that post.

The photo to the right should give you a good indication of how each stitch looks.  So if your stitches don’t match, please review the previous posts.  I will add links to the original posts next to each stitch for your convenience.

WIP Tuesday – Finally Done with the Single Crochets on the Hygge CAL

Close up of my progress on the Hygge CAL
Close up of my progress on the Hygge CAL

I am finally done with the single crochets on the Hygge CAL that I am working on for the Farm Fair.  Yipee!  Job well done, me! 🙂  Now comes the “fun” part.  Okay, once I get started it won’t be as bad as my pathetic brain keeps making it.

This is just a short (I hope) post about my progress so far.  As I went along, I placed a bright colored thread in the 1st, 10th, 20th, etc. rows so I would have a guide for the cross stitches.  I then tied these threads together to keep track of each part of the CAL.

WIP Tuesday – Working on Part 2 of the Hygge CAL

In the middle of Part 2 of the Hygge CAL
In the middle of Part 2 of the Hygge CAL

As I continue on to part 2 of the Hygge CAL, I’m still not sure if it will be done in time for the Farm Fair.  The single crochets that make up a majority of the wrap are super easy and I could get through them in a week or two, even with numerous distractions.  I lack the confidence to do the cross stitch on a black surface.  It has been many years since I did any cross stitch work so I am hoping it will be much like riding a bicycle.

Beginner Crochet Series – Moving on to the Second Row

Now that you have tackled the single crochet into the chain stitch row, you are ready to move onto the second row.  You are over the beginner crocheter’s hump.  The rest should be much easier.  Sure, you’ll have stitches that will make your eyes glaze over and your hair turn gray.  But doing the single crochet into the chain row is the hardest to learn because it’s awkward and fiddly.  So pat yourself on the back and get ready for the next adventure into the world of crochet.

Beginner Crochet Series – The Single Crochet into the Chain Stitch, Part Two

Hello, everyone and welcome to this week’s lesson on making a single crochet into the back hump of a chain stitch.  Hopefully, you have been practicing your chain stitches as well as working on identifying the parts of each stitch.  This week we will be making our first of many single crochets.  If you want to review Part One, please click here.

Since you are going to be putting the first single crochets into your most recent chain stitches, they should be much easier to work with than the first chain stitches that your did when you first started.

Beginner Crochet Series – The Single Crochet into the Chain Stitch, Part One

First single crochet into chain
This is how the first single crochet into the chain should look.

Hello everyone!  I hope that you are having a good day.  Mine is going well at the moment.  Today we are going to learn the basics of the single crochet into the chain you have been practicing the last few weeks. Once again this post will be a “lecture” and not a “lab”, but it’s still very important.  No falling asleep in the back of the class!

The first single crochet into the chain is going to be frustrating, but it’s very important that you persevere.  Once you are over this hurdle, the rest should be much easier.
